Why

Customer services sucks. I couldn't update my bios so I sent them a message. Got a reply asking me why I want to update my bios. So I send this guy from India a message back saying I just want the latest one. 5 days later get a survey asking me how my service was. Never got a response. I then resent the message and got a reply that copy and pasted the instructions from the website. Still doesn't work but I've given up.

Alright here's the bottom line. most people here would recommend asus, I myself would as well . But at the end of the day both are good companies and have their pro's. I'd say if you're aiming towards budget get Asrock, they are decent for the money. And if you're on a high-end budget and want more FEATURED PACKED stuff go with asus.

Wanna hang out with me and people like @Theslsamg, @ Ssoele, @BENTHEREN, @Lanoi, @Whiskers, @_ASSASSIN_, @Looney, @WunderWuffle, and @nsyedhasan. Well.... Check out: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/48484-unofficial-linustechtips-teamschnitzel-server-teamspeak/

Why

Asus customer service is terrible. I had an Asus laptop, had problems with it. I was quoted up to 6-8 weeks for a replacement, shipping was at my expense both ways. They weren't very helpful trying to troubleshoot the problem in the first place.

Most people will default to ASUS as they've been known to deliver a consistent enthusiast 'experience' throughout the years. However I'd say you'd be better off comparing two boards from either brand- instead of just brand a vs brand b.

I like the ASUS Z97-AR, but if you'd like some of the gamer bling bling then the ASRock Z97X-Killer is good.

I like Asus for their good products, quality build and stability.

BUT Asrock is great for the price you pay - it does have a lot features for the money. It does not as refined as Asus in my head, but they still make very good products.

MSI is another option.

Gigabyte asks quite a lot of money for simple products.

Intel i7 2600 @ 4.2 Ghz | MSI Z77-GD55 | Crucial 16 GB DDR3 RAM 1600Mhz | Intel 330 SSD 180Gb | Western Digital Black 1Tb | Western Digital Green 2Tb | Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti | OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W | Thermaltake Commander MS-I case | OS X Yosemite | Dell Vostro 3550 Windows 10

Intel Xeon 1230 V2 | Gigabyte GA-H61M-S | Kingston 4Gb RAM 1333Mhz | Seagate 1TB  | Fractial Design Arc mini | Windows 10
