Display won't turn on

I just recently got a new motherboard and I've been having lots of trouble with it but until now I have everything working the way it use to be the only thing that is not cooperating is that the monitor will not turn on. If anyone could help that would be amazing

It's is a HPw17e

I am using a VGA with a dvi adapter

If the monitor has a power switch on it make sure it is flipped to on, also make sure the monitor is plugged in.

It should turn on regardless of what device you have connected to it.

i suspect the mobo is trying to display a resolution which your monitor do not support

 

which is why you cannot see any display

 

that monitor is too old already

Ill try it on my tv to see it it works then

make sure you are plugged into the gpu not the mobo [if you have a graphics card] B)

Yes I have windows 8

About 5 years

Yes, and I got it to work!! Thank you soo much! But I think I still need to upgrade my monitor
