So I have a laptop that the internal antenna for the wifi broke on.  I have tried replacing the card a few times so I know it's the antenna.  But that's not the problem.  The problem is that I removed the card so it's not using up any unneccessary battery power, but shortly afterwards, an extremely weird thing started happening.  So whenever I plug in the ethernet cable, I can connect to the internet, but not to my internal network.  I soon noticed that it was still reading as being connected to my wifi network, but only when the ethernet cable is plugged in.  Now the even weirder part about this is that even the computer has no idea what adapter it is using, all adapters on windows and in cmd are showing as disconnected.  I can't use ipconfig/release, ipconfig/renew, because it shows an error saying no connections detected.  I have never seen anything like this before.  If anyone has any idea what is going on and how to fix this please help me.

(In that picture attached, AC SECURITY was the name of my wifi network)

Seems like somethig has fucked up your windows registery. What I would do.

Download Tune-Up 2014 and run the registery fixing thing.

Reboot

See if problem is solved

If not Uninstall ALL network drivers and re-install them.

If that fails, it's probably your router so maybe go to the config page . ( Ususally type in browser bar 192.1.XXX , consult the manual, search on the internet what exact adress to use. ) and factory reset the router.

If that fails try to re-install windows.

If that fails buy another router

If that fails Idk man....

what the.... that cmd prompt window is not showing any IPv4 info...

i know it sounds like an over kill step but i always like to make sure that it is windows being insane. i get a ubuntu live usb (useful app called pendrive linux) and boot to that. from there i am able to check if the connection works as your trying to do here. if it works with net browsing and you can see and connect to other PC on your network then yeah windows is being weird.

you could try reloading the driver for the adapter (after removing it though device manager) and see if your connection is working again.
