Hi, I just got into hosting servers for games, not file sharing, and I am running 10gb of DDR2 RAM the motherboard is an Intel S5400SF and has 16 slots available. Do I need more RAM for the computer or will that be enough to run about 10 or so servers on 2 Xeon CPUs. Thank you

Typical rule of thumb for virtual servers is 1 core, 2GB RAM, 1 disk spindle. Is that enough for a game server however, I doubt it. What I would do is setup one session, run it as a game server, and see what kind of usage you see before spending any money on more hardware.

I'd be more concerned as to what your Internet speeds are. I can run a gaming server from my house, but my 2Mb up connection is only good enough for around 10-15 people(and that's only ONE server). If the server gets maxed out(16 players) then the rest of the house has trouble getting onto the internet.

Something else to remember is that especially with Server 03 and 08, RAM use is pretty high. Server 2012 has got this fixed to a certain degree but from what I've seen, still not around that of a Linux based solution.

What RAM are you currently running in there and I assume it's dual channel being 771?
