I have a cousin who thinks that consoles are the only way to go so i figured that maybe we could all try and come up with a pc that will crush any console so heres the rules.

Must be between $400 - $500 USD or less

Must be small so itx or Matx

has to have a optical bay for movies and what not.  (console gamers and there cds)

No monitor or peripherals he will probably use a controller.

just need something that will beat the consoles.

this isnt just for my cousin, its for anyone who thinks that consoles are better and you can show them this and prove them wrong :D.

I was thinking a apu might be a good choice but idk how they perform or anything so i cant say.

i figured this would just be a fun thing :D

i5 3570 | MSI GD-65 Gaming | OCZ Vertex 60gb ssd | WD Green 1TB HDD | NZXT Phantom | TP-Link Wifi card | H100 | 5850

you can choose between a 7850, 7790 or 7770 ghz edition depending on how much you wanna spend. This'll play any game he wants really on high or above at much higher frames than a console.

For an APU based system;

GIGABYTE GA-F2A85XM-D3H FM2 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128572 - $80

AMD A10-5800k - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113280 - $130

Coolermaster Hyper212 Evo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 - $36

G.Skill Ripjaws X 1866 8GB (2x4) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231455 - $70

Seagate Barracuda 1TB (Data) -http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840 - $77

Corsair CX 430W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026 - $50

Coolermaster N200 m-atx case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119274 - $50

Some generic optical drive - $15

Total: $508

You could probably get better prices/change some of the parts as well with some searching but this seems pretty ok to me

The gpu that the particular APU has built in, depending on your choice.

Good build.

I'd say go with this!

15" MBP TB

AMD 5800X | Gigabyte Aorus Master | EVGA 2060 KO Ultra | Define 7 || Blade Server: Intel 3570k | GD65 | Corsair C70 | 13TB

I'm sorry but what you just said made no sense whatsoever.

Are you trying to say that he should crossfire the integrated GPU on the A10-5800k (7660D) with an AMD Radeon HD 6670?

Here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/10iVo $415

and here (CPU): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113328 $85

It has usb 3.0 front and back ports and has potential to overclock. The case can fit a Hyper 212 evo later on.
