Hello!!

I am building a computer and i was wondering whether or not to get a new Haswell CPU? I have done my research and it hasn't answered my questions so... I am going to wait for the release and would it be better to get a new Haswell, or a i5 because prices would be dropped?

1. Would it be the same/ better with my $1000 budget?

2. Is all the effort worth it for the Haswell?

3. Is the i5 compatible with Future Games? And same with Haswell being compatible with the previous games of 2009 to present?

Thankyou for you help!

Ya why wouldnt it be? makesure you get a MB that has supports haswell.

prices wont be dropped, sandy bridge prices have barely dropped, and again there is always amd they are great for budget builds

I would recommend getting a FX-6350 for this amount of money. It is a great performer for a bugdet build. It costs only 130$.

As far as Haswell, we don;t know pricing on MOBOs and the CPUs themselves. Also with Haswell you must keep an eye on the PSU you are getting. It must be Haswell Certified, because of the lower wattage at idle.

Hope it helped.

CPU: AMD FX-6100 Black Edition @3.9GHz GPU: XFX 7970 DD (1062/1520 MHz) MOBO: ASUS Sabertooth 990FXA(1st Revision) RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB @ 1333MHz Storage: Corsair Force 3 120GB(Boot) + WD Green 1TB(storage) PSU: FSP AURUM 600W(80+ Gold) CPU Cooler: Cryorig M9a  Case: NZXT Tempst 410 Elite(Mid-Tower) Mouse: Logitech G602(Manufacturer Refurbished) Keyboard: Noppoo Choc Mini(Cherry MX Blue) AUDIO:Sennheiser HD 598+ASUS Xonar DGX Monitor: LG M2280DF 21.5" 1080p(TN-75Hz)

Hi , I would say only get haswell if you want integrated graphics , ivy bridge boards should be cheaper and CPU sales. And yes the i5 will give you a long run, for the game thing , it depends on your is really h

I doubt Ivy Bridge prices will go down much at all.  Sandy Bridge is still the same price as Ivy Bridge for example.  Typically it won't go down significantly until it's several generations old.  Haswell will have a bit of a boost over Ivy Bridge and more importantly will overclock much better, Ivy is a terrible overclocker.

haswell would be about 10 - 15% faster than last gen so mayb be worth it ... might i ask how much you plan to spend on motherboard, cpu and gpu. if the case is that u can squeeze in a better gpu by getting a lower cost setup you should do that. because as it any modern higher end cpu is more than capable of gaming and at launch haswell prices may be a bit high.

(1) high frame rate (2) ultra graphics settings (3) cheap...>> choose only two<<...

if it's never been done then i'm probably tryna do it. (((((((Bass so low it HERTZ)))))))
