Peace,

I just put together my build yesterday and when I went to hit the power switch all the fans came on, and there is a green light on my GPU but no POST beep and monitor stays black.  .All parts were new out of the box so if I need to RMA its not problem, just need to know what to try first.

  • Case: Corsair Carbide 300r
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H
  • CPU: I7-4770k
  • Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • RAM: 16gb Crucial Balistix Sport
  • GPU: Asus GTX 660
  • SSD: Kingston Hyper X
  • PSU: Seasonic 550W 80+ Gold

I connected them by VGA cable to my LG EB2442 monitor because my DVI cable is at work.  Even tried hooking them up to my tv thru HDMI on both the Motherboard and GPU and still got nothing.  When powered on all the fans spin, power goes to keyboard and mouse, just nothing else happens.  I expected to hear beeps but nothing.

I reseated all of the the cables, reseated the RAM.  Removed the GPU and tried it that way.  Removed CPU and checked for bent pins, none visible that I could see.

Did you check the front panel connectors on your motherboard? I can't find the word, but the bottom of the motherboard where you connect your case things, like POWER LED, HDD LED, etc.

Front pannel connections. And Op check all your connections on the board so far it sounds to me like, your mother board or processor may be doa, did you use an anti static workplace when building your pc and be grounded or use an anti static bracelet/ancklet, while building it?

Its a Championship not a Belt!

Gonna recheck all of my connections for the third time, I really want to be sure.  I also had an anti-static wrist band, so hopefully i didn't blow the motherboard.  Is there a realistic way to test the CPU and Motherboard without having both another cpu and motherboard to try?

No, and I'm kicking myself for that because I usually do, with this being my third or so build like this.  I think the motherboard is DOA, but I really have no way to test if its the cpu or motherboard

If the faulty component could be the board or the CPU, it's usually the board. You should try RMAing it.

This^ the motherboard is usually the culprit

Thanks y'all, going thru the RMA process now.  Trying to pick up another incredibly cheap LGA 1150 motherboard from a local shop so i can test to make sure the CPU isn't fried
