EVGA is absolutely smashing it in the <1kw 80+gold modular segment ATM, lucky they bagged that superflower OEM to make them so damn good for the money, you won't catch seasonic allowing those prices.

Agreed. Super Flower wasn't even seen in this price segment before EVGA stepped in.

Actually they have a deal with UK retailer OCUK (and possible others) to sell the Leadex platform units (the ones the EVGA units are based on, it's the same guts) you can see the very similar pricing of the units, just some aesthetic differences such as lit sockets etc.

EVGA is the better buy for the platform because of their warranty service IMO, still though the corsair RM is still no1 on sales at my retailer, why? I don't know.

@ OP, what are you powering? The rig in your signature is nowhere near complete (saving-wise), so you may change it significantly. The question is whether you really need 700W. What is the system for, what are the components, any other preferences (like silence and blue that you mentioned)?

Do you intend to crossfire with another R9 280X? Because the CPU has an 88W TDP and the R9 280X uses around 250W. You can run systems like that on 500-550W. 700W could crossfire.

The EVGA NEX unit you listed isn't very good. Not as good as the G2 units that everyone is praising for being excellent and generally cheap.

no i know about the NEX i did state that i wasnt gonna buy it but thanks anyway! erm im not sure i think when my GPU cant handle the load of future games i will buy a new one! but 700Watts or what ever gives me room for upgrades in the future like more hard drives more RAM or what ever it gives me breathing space too! and maybe i may Cross fire but i dont think i will!

You almost certainly won't need more than 600W for a single GPU system, even with future upgrades. If anything, Nvidia's next series will use less power due to the Maxwell architecture. RAM, HDDs, SSDs, case fans etc use hardly anything.

That's the NEX unit I described above. Ok, not that impressive, and not nearly as good as the (more expensive) excellent G2 Series.
