CPU help

I'm building my very first PC that I'll be using for gaming. I was thinking about getting and AMD FX-8350 or an Intel processor that works as well as the 8350 or better and around the same price range. What are your thoughts on the 8350 or do you have suggestions on other processors for gaming.

 

P.S: If you know any good motherboards, please let me know

Well if you live near micro center go get an i5 4690k for $200 but if you don't 8350 is fine.  And Asus motherboards are the best its the only brand I will use.

Agreed. 8350 is great but they heat up quite a bit so have a well ventilated case or get a decent CPU cooler. The i5 is on pair with the 8xxx series in gaming, but in multithreaded tasks the AMD 8 core comes out on top.

If you aren't looking for tons of features, MSI's Gaming lineup of motherboards are good. The Asus motherboards are a lot of flash and not really entirely geared towards functionality for cost. You get a ton of features that you probably won't use and they cost almost as much as the CPU itself.
