some questions to cpu temps

Go to solution Solved by Th3 Mans1ay3r,

So long as they aren't hitting too much above 80C you should be fine. Recommended though is the hyper 212 evo because it's always nice to have it barely break 50-60.

Hey guys,

I've watched the temps of my gpu&cpu, and as far as I know the GPU is fine (~30°C-35°C idle, ~80° load).

But I am a little bit worried about my CPU...

the temps are as follow (as far as I can remember)
Idle: somewhere between 40°C-50C°, sometimes peaks into the low sixties,

under load it reaches temperatures up to 100C°.

I have the i7 4790k @ stock speeds and I am cooling it with the stock cooler atm, but I will buy a better one asap (monday).

Are these temps fine or should really buy a new cooler?

thanks

LoLlYdE

they aren't. Get a new cooler, if your budget is ~$30 get a cooler master 212 EVO, if it's ~80 you could go with a Noctua NH-D15 or a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 for great looks and even lower temps to extend the life of your components.

What's the temperature like in your room? It feels like you've gotten something wrong, maybe the fan's being blocked by something or your case has bad airflow.

The idle temp is fine, my i7 4770k is similiar to that - but the load temps are quite high. I use the stock cooler, too - and the highest my load temp goes to is 83 degrees C.

Make sure your stock cooler is making contact with your processor and/ore make sure it's plugged in :P I don't have a GPU yet and I play bf3 on it where temps go around 80 degrees C.

So a new cooler shouldn't be necessary at all, assuming you haven't overclocked a lot (a little overclock with stock cooler should be OK)

room temperatures sould be around 18°C..I think....a little bit under 20°C just as I like it :D

The fans are not blocked, I've checked that even before I started my PC the first time.

As to airflow: I use my two 140mm as intakes at the top&front, and my 120mm as exhausts at the rear and the side. So if you imagine the graphics card as a barrier between the upper and lower half of my case, each half has a 140 intake and 120 exhaust (maybe they run at a too low rpm? gotta try that out)

yeah, I achieved that after an intense PlanetSide 2 session..that goes on the cpu like no other game I know.

yeah, the fan is plugged in xD wtf do you expect from me? :P

also, it should have enough contact, as I almost burnt my finger while testing exactly that...sooo....no problem there (the cooler gets damn hot, DO NOT TOUCH!)

I havent overclocked at all atm, but I really want to see how much I can get out of my CPU, and maybe let it run @ 4.4ghz, or something like that, depends on how much I can get.

Bad mounting is bad.

Re-seat your cooler and you should be fine forever at stock or else intel wouldn't include it if reached 100C jeez.

 i5 3570k @4.all over the place || CM Hyper TX3 Evo || ASRock Z77 professional-m || 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Z 2400mhz CL10 || MSI GTX770 2GB OC'd 1280/3825mhz || ADATA SP900 128GB || Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 || Logitech G502 || Audio Technica ATH-M50

What's your GPU? Sometimes a hot GPU can increase the temperature of the case. I'd suggest a better cooler.

you mean re-mounting and replacing the one day old thermal paste? already did, showed some effect...not the desireable thou

really? a good cooler for THAT price? you have to be kidding!

I haven an GTX 780 ghz edition windforce 3x. the exhaust shouldn't go anywhere near the cpu as an case-exhaust is placed directly at the fan-exhaust :P

That shouldn't cause problems... I'd suggest a better cooler.

212 Evo is considered the best value you can get for a cooler.
