Hi, i recently build a system and i have been having some problems when playing games

What happens is that after some time (10-30 minutes) the game compleatly freezes and i have to restart the system to get out,

i have my games on a separate hard drive(Segate Barracude 1TB) , and it only occurs when im playing

Could the drive be dying?

I have updated all drivers and also the BIOS

Are you using the stock cooler? If so then that might be your problem because the cpu could overheat.

If i play a game of the ssd the freezing seems to stop so i dont think heat is the problem (yes im using stock cooler but i have just ordered an H100i)

Overheating will usually just shut down system completely.

Many system freezes can be attributed to RAM in some way.

Although SSD's are similar in RAM in some ways also.

1. Having your game files on a separate drive could be the source of the problem. Try running it from the SSD instead. If you still have the same problem then you will know that it is something else.

2. Check the BIOS or UEFI to make sure that RAM is running at correct voltage and timings. Usually tap F2 or delete when starting up to enter BIOS/UEFI.

3. Enable Intel XMP if it is not enabled and this will set correct voltage and timings automatically.

4. If none of this works then rule out the possibility of a bad stick of RAM. Blow out the RAM slots to remove any dust and then try each stick one at a time. Consult your motherboard manual to determine which slot to use only one stick of RAM in. Usually it is slot 1 (or A) which is usually closest to CPU. If you have a bad stick of RAM then you can return the whole set for an exchange or get an individual stick replaced through Corsair RMA process.

Hope this helps!
