So in my build I was planning on going with an intel I-5 3570k. However ive been reading and was wondering if I-5 is worth the price or if something cheaper can give me just as good of an experience. (Note: My computer will be used for gaming, recording, and some editing.)

Forget about this post my motherboard is only aimed for LGA 1155

The i5 3470 is fine. Unless you're pushing a very power gpu, it won't make much of a difference.

You can change to a amd based board.

Yeah but this motherboard is the only one that I can find for the theme of my build. (GIGABYTE G1.Sniper M3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard) Unless you know of an amd based black and green motherboard

Well then sticking of the 3570k is better then if your going with aesthetics.

Would a 7870 be good for that cpu?

The 7850, 7870, and 7950 are excellent for that cpu.

The question is what do you edit/render with? Applications like Adove premiere or after effects can really take advantage of the cuda cores nvidia offers.

Considering after effects, the gtx 660 is also an option.

You unlock the cuda cores using this: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/14186-how-to-get-nvidia-cuda-support-in-adobe-creative-suite-6-for-gtx-gpus/

I don't know I really like the sound of the never settle bundle, however I do really want Metro: Last Light. Decisions... decisions

It'll be a gaming vs. editing decision. I'm not sure how well the amd's render or if they can at all but I have a 560 ti and enabling the cuda cores for rendering cut my time down from 40 seconds to 6.

Edit: The 7870 does do better in gaming when overclocked btw.

Pick up the 8320, its a slightly lower clocked 8350 and you'll save a fortune :)

Well I guess ill have to decide which I want more, time saved, or more games to waste time on. Hmm if NVidia is still offering Metro when I order I might go with the 660
