I always download the drivers directly from AMD's site. I have an MSI card, and the Catalyst version they provide on their side is outdated.

just recently bought a gpu r9 290 sapphire tri-x 

windows 8.1 64

Yep, you just download the driver off the AMD website (from the link you posted).

No need to go to the Sapphire website for that.
