So I'm doing assembling this computer for a client. Well he is more a friend... but he is paying me.

I have assembled 30+ computers in the past. So this one was easy, I have the same mobo (motherboard) so I know which connector should go where. I assembled it quite fast and it boots up. POST completes without problems. I check the EUFI everything is connected and working fine. So I start installing the OS. Everything goes fine, until Windows has to reboot to complete installation. Somehow it doesn't want to reboot. The mobo is an ASUS Sabertooth z87, it has some on board led's that help with troubleshooting. Everytime my system tries to reboot (either using the resetbutton on the case or software reboot) the red CPU led lits up. I have build over 30 PC so I've tried all the tricks I know, I disassembled and reassembled everything again. Secured the connectors, tried every piece of hardware on its own, checked all the pins on the motherboard, updated BIOS to latest version. Read the manuals a thousand times, ... I've spent 16+ hours on troubleshooting this thing and I'm really getting desperate.

The Specs:
intel core i7 4970 3.6 Ghz
Asus Sabertooth Z87
EVGEA GTX 780
Kingston HyperX beast 2333 mhz 2x8 GB RAM
Corsair cx750
hyperX 3k 120GB SSD
WD Green 2TB

I'm trying to install Windows 8.1 64-bit
I uptadet the BIOS to version 2004

Sorry, I'm not sure if it's me not seeing the obvious, but could you explain exactly what happens when you press the power button on? Where do you get to if anywhere? What message do you get if any? Anything more information you think could be useful? Tried resetting the BIOS?

Also, just because you've built 30 machines, doesn't make you invincible to making a small error that you may have overlooked or similar. So don't worry about it, happens to the best of us! :)

I tried resetting the BIOS, and I updated it to the latest version. And the systems works fine until I try to reboot. I've installed Windows now by plugging the hdd in another computer, but from the moment I try to reboot my system it halts, no screen output or beep codes, the machine keeps running and the OnBoard CPU led from the mobo lights up.

im guessing you tried reinstalling windows?

Nope it was I clean install.

Amen. I've done almost 100, and I still screw things up occsionally. Most of the time, it's front panel headers, because I'm stubborn and refuse to read the manual for them, or worse, I forget to plug them in first, and my hands are to big to do it later, so I have to remove everything... Are you installing of an optical disc, or USB?
Also, the processor is the i7-4790, there is no 4970.

I'm installing from the CD, I have managed to install Windows by now (Installed it on the HDD with another PC.

And there is a i7 4790, http://ark.intel.com/nl/products/80806/Intel-Core-i7-4790-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz
