Unless you have an antistatic mat to place the components on, don't do it.

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

like @Archangel1994 said, you need an antistatic platform to put your board(I think you can also use a rubber mat or the mobo box). It's up to you though, you can game without a case(that's what I'll do for a month before I can have my case) but make sure the platform will be static-free.

My Current PC Codename: Scrapper

Spoiler

Intel i5-3570 | Some LGA 1155 MOBO Some Generic DDR3 8GB 1600Mhz | PowerColor RX 560 2GB | Recycled HP Case Crucial MX100 128GB 1TB WD Blue 7200RPM | Some Generic 500w PSU | Intel Stock Cooler

You should always test a system out of the box before you put it in a case so that if anything is DOA it's easy to diagnose and repair

Temperatures aren't a problem, but I'd be worried about you knocking into it.

Your call though, if it's on top of your mobo box and you won't physically hit it, I think it'll be fine.

(Also watch your HDD, make sure it's flat and secure)

Remember to be a good citizen and choose a 'best answer' when your problem has been resolved!

(that way people know when a problem's been resolved)

i have an ssd and an external hdd so its connected by usb wont be a problem.

so i should do it regardless, maybe not play games, just test to see if it works
