I overclocked my CPU to 4.4GHz @ 1.2V. It works, but I haven't stress tested it YET. Unfortunately there are some things I don't understand since this is the first time I'm overclocking a CPU.  Firstly, I'd like to know if it's normal that (non-OCed) CPU is running @3.75GHz (even though usage is just 0-4%) and OC-ed CPU is running @ 4.30GHz (even though usage is 0-4%). Why is it running @4.3GHz and using just 0.xxx voltage and while stress testing it's running at 4.4GHz @ 1.208V. Also my older i5 650 did slow down when usage was low.

Have you disabled speedstep in the BIOS? It should be under CPU advanced settings or something.

I tried enabling it and disabling it, but it makes no difference.

Try running cinebench or something and seeing what speed you get.

The speed while doing something demanding is OK (4.4GHz (OCed)), but what I don't get is why doesn't the CPU slow down when the usage is low.

EDIT: Speedstep helps, but I can't have it on, because i would have to turn on Turbo Boost as well... By the way should I enable C1E support??

You shouldn't worry over clock speed staying up. Those don't really matter if you are afraid of shortening CPU life or power cosumption. Its the voltages that matter. As for voltages, they go up when CPU needs more power to run. Like under stress or other load situations. Non-OC'd CPU stays at idle clocks when at idle. OC'd can be either idle clocks or OC'd clocks full time. Ofc having it on high OC clocks will mean that it draws more power just to be stable while idle.
