BEFORE YOU START FLAPPING YOUR GUMS, YES I KNOW XP IS IN EOS STATUS AND SO ON. I'M AIMING FOR ERA-CORRECT. HER PROGRAMS DON'T SEEM TO WANT ON ANYTHING NEWER THAN CORE 2 OR ATHLON 64.

So, I have to do a basic Windows XP build for my grandma so that she can run some of her older programs. Yes, I know it is waaaaay overkill just to run PrintMaster and use a scanner/printer, but she's used to the speed of her current computer. So, here's the part list.

I have peripherals and a display already.

Should I bother adding in a cheap GT610 (this one) since I only have 2GB of RAM? My grandma doesn't really close things, so that 2GB will go fast.

I'd grab a 80+ Bronze PSU, like this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx430m

a mATX Chassis for a mATX board wouldn't hurt either.

Trying to keep this as cheap as possible. That's why I'm using a lot of the parts I already have (like 2GB of RAM, DDR2 is freaking expensive).

I had thought about getting a better PSU. And as for the chassis, I've had good experience with the 210, so I'm just gonna stick with it (and it is a good budget case).

She didn't like the looks of the 430 (go figure) and she had one of those coolers on the CPU before... Never heard any computer component that loud before in my life. If I can get her to do the $20 MIR on the PSU, I will probably get another CX430M.

Most of the time you can get a cheque with a MIR (or a prepaid visa to buy things online) which is quite nice. The 430m is also semi-modular and 80+ Bronze (vs plain 80 plus).

Could always grab a Coolermaster N200 if you can tolerate the look for a slightly smaller footprint.

Thankfully size is no matter since I can put it pretty much wherever I want. I love the basement. :D

@tmcclelland455,

Since XP is not terribly demanding of storage you might consider an all ssd build - depending on just how much user storage is needed. I would run with the stock cpu cooler if it is available.
