What are you going to use for? Gaming? Video production? Porn surfing?

Also, have you got an MSY shop near you?

Sorry about that!!

1. Budget & Location
Budget is about $1400 AUD
2. Aim
Probably going to be gaming most of the time, BF4,Watch Dogs,League of Legends, DOTA 2 etc, but i believe games like watchdogs will be the stretch of the system
3. Monitors
Just one single monitor , probably wont upgrade and i'd like to have it run at full HD 1920x1080
4. Peripherals
All my peripherals are set, maybe a new gaming headset from the range of $100-$150 and Windows 8.1 would be great

Mid tower with a window is my preferred case
5. Why are you upgrading?
I'm upgrading since the laptop i have now has a i7 clocked at 1.7ghz, no gpu and overheats terribly, not to mention it's about 6 years old, possibly not sufficient for my gaming?!!

Yes i live relatively close to a msy store

I5-4690k- $272

8G 2133 Gskill- $103

Asus H97M-Plus mobo- $129

3G R9-280 Gigabyte-WF3- $259

Corsair 80+ Gold 750W- $148

Seagate Barracuda 3T- $124

Windows 8.1- $107

the basic for $1142... plenty left for a case and a headset of your own choice and I'm sure other people will have different suggestions.

Perhaps you can throw a Samsung Evo SSD 250G for $139 and drop the Barracuda to a 1TB model for $63...
