Maybe Im an idiot, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to quote someone on here. I did it before but since I went from windows 8 to 8.1 something changed and it just aint happening no matter what I try.

Anyway heres my take on AMD vs Nvidia these days.

Nvidia makes a more polished product. They seem to have better quality control and less issues with their cards, although as both have a good warranty that's not really a big issue. The Nvidia cards tend to require less power than the amd counterpart and their reference coolers are much better and quieter. They also have a much better marketing machine. They also currently have what is arguably the best performing card out there with current gen games in the 780 TI, with the 290x coming in a close second in most games(but still beating it in a few).

Having said that AMD totally destroys Nvidia on the price to performance ratio at just about every level from budget to top end cards. That's why enthusiasts and computer geeks tend to prefer AMD by a large margin, at least for gaming. In just about every case the Nvidia card is going to be far more expensive than its AMD equivalent, and in some cases may even be more expensive than an AMD card one or two tiers up the performance ladder. It really seems pointless to me to pay a premium for an Nvidia card that gives a marginal edge in performance that can be totally wiped out by using the money saved by crossfiring an AMD card for about the same price.

Maybe the 800 series will be a game changer for Nvidia and undercut this AMD edge and give a better price to performance ratio AND a cooler more power efficient card with more VRAM that is great for SLI, but im not holding my breath, and I doubt AMD is just going to stand by and watch that happen without countering it.

g sync will probably die away now that amd is working with vesa to make free sync/adaptive sync the standard for future displayports and nvidia haven't gotten that kind of support for their g sync

ASUS VG248QE is the only monitor that I am aware of that is currently supporting G-Sync and it requires an additional $200 upgrade. Is it woth it? That's a matter of opinion. I do not feel like it is worth it at this point. BUT it just so happens that this is one of the best selling LCD monitors ever. So I'm not quite sure how you can say that it is not receiving any support. It was the Tom's Hardware Reader's Choice LCD for 2013 and continues to sell like crazy. I prefer BenQ myself and I will just wait it out just to stay loyal to BenQ because I believe their LCD's have better quality in many ways. I already stated that G-Sync will most likely come standard in future LCD's and most likely at no additional cost.

I agree with you, picking a GPU isn't the simplest of things. People will say to look at specifications and clock speeds, and while this does have its merit, like Linus said in his video, the only real way to know what GPU is good for you is to get feedback from people who actually owned one.

Hope this helps.

My other worry about the HIS IceQ x2 is that is says you need minimum a 750 W power supply. I have a 750 watt EVGA power supply: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438028

Will this be enough to power this card because i really want to get this card good reviews all around but the only problem is the 750w power supply requirement. i do not want to damage anything because of getting this card. Please help me i really want to get it because it has 3 games coming with it if you buy it but i am unsure whether or not to buy it.

Tell me what you think. Thanks

I have the exact same card as I showed you, the only difference is that mine is black instead of gold (I would have gotten the gold one if only they had them at the time). It's awesome. I tried 4 different 280X's before I tried the HIS and I stuck with the HIS because it was the best to me.

Also, I'm running mine on a 700W PSU that's nowhere near the quality of your 750W. Even a good 500W will work just fine.

I've ordered lots of stuff from Newegg and not a single issue. I say go for it :)

Hey i have a couple more questions. I have the MSI gaming 3 motherboard. Will the HIS Iceq fit in that motherboard? And i also have the fractal design r4 mid tower case and i heard the card may not fit in mid tower cases so do you think it will fit in mine?

Yes, pretty much any motherboard will "fit" any graphics card that's PCIe. The case is the limiting factor, and the Define R4 has more then enough room to fit the IceQ X2. I have the Zalman Z11 which actually has less room then the R4 and there's still room to spare with the graphics card in.

I think it will be quite quick to ship to you since you're in Ottawa. I hear their warehouse is Mississsauga. I live in Calgary and parts take about a week or a week and a half to come.

I personally always stick with Nvidia. Yes their products are more expensive, but in my experience that added cost comes from the higher quality. I also find Nvidia cards run cooler and more energy efficient, and Nvidia cards have CUDA, which if you use a lot of content creation software, is a huge advantage.
