So I am going to buy all the parts for a gaming computer I will be building in a week or two and I just wanted some final thoughts/ opinions on the parts I have chosen and if I should change anything.

Things to note:

  • I will be water cooling this build by the end of september (just after by birthday)
  • The graphics card is not on the list of parts because I am not sure wether to go for the asus poseidon 780, or a normal 780 and add a water block to it.
  • I havn't included water cooling parts as I am still deciding what to go for

1200w is unnecessary for your build. You could easily do without it with a lower wattage with the same 80+ certification @TNortham112

Overkill power supply. 850 watts are more than enough to power even two 780's. Get a regular 780 with a EK full cover water block, not the Poseidon. Also, why would you get blue memory with a red motherboard?

I know I selected blue RAM, I will be going for red RAM though, I just couldn't be bothered to keep going through all the RAM and looking for the red RAM atm

okay. What's your maximum budget including the graphics card?

£1500-£1600

With or without water cooling components? And what will you be using your PC for? Just gaming?

Thats without water cooling components and it will be used for gaming and everyday use including school work etc...

In that case I would highly recommend going with the i5-4690k, 8GBs of RAM and an 840 Evo. That will save you enough money to get two 780's.

Nice build.

The Poseidon 780 seems reasonably priced. It would be my choice simply because it doesn't require any moding when you move from air to liquid.

I would suggest either a Crucial MX100 or Samsung 840 EVO ssd. Less expensive and any performance difference will not be noticeable.

I noticed that the red Vengeance Pro DDR3-2400 is only ~£5 more than the 1866.

Well then he'd be wasting 5£

The Poseidon performs worse than a 780 with a water block and the installation is easy.

Edit:

MSI 780 and EK waterblock = 415 Pounds

Poseidon = 431 Pounds

The conclusions in this http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/03/25/asus_rog_poseidon_gtx_780_video_card_review/11#.U-qgtI10yUk article outline the trade-offs reasonably well.
