The PCI-E lanes. It is basically the bandwidth. Socket 2011 has more PCI-E lanes available to it. If you have tri SLI or something you can't run it at full bandwidth. (I'm 80% you call the total bandwidth the amount of lanes. Please correct me if I'm wrong)

PCIE bandwidth is measured in lanes

2011 has 32 lanes avaliable, but only 16 can fit in one slot

so if you have two cards on two slots, you can have 16 lanes per slot

but if you go up, they split the number of lanes in half, so you get 8+8+8+8 = 32

or 16+8+8=32

does 9 expansion slots on the case can hold 4 780 ti?

Yes. Graphics cards are normally dual slot ones. So each card takes 2 slots. 4*2=8. You'd have 1 slot extra.

You'll put them in 1st, 2nd, 4th and last. With 4 cards you don't have much choice. Those cards will block one 16x and one 1x slot.

For that I can't answer. You'll have better luck in Water Cooling section. My wild guess would be that its short due bottom mounted PSU making it extra long trip. Front mounted maybe, but they know better in WC section.

just wanted to point out that 2011 (and some of 2011-3) has 40 lanes available, not 32.
