I've got to agree with the guys saying to use the Xbox 360 controller. I use it for quite a few games and it works perfectly. Also, it's about £30 for the controller and an adapter. The controller can be used on any adapter and any Xbox 360 console effortlessly - ie. no setting up different configs for different games, etc.

I use the cronusmax adapter lets me use my wiiu pro controller on the PC and my PS3 for 3d games. For 2d games I use a adapter to plug my snes controller into the cronusmax and it shows up as a 360 pad on the PC.

The best one is Xbox 360 controller. If you can't buy that, get something from Logitech! :). They're good in making 'em too!

My favourite is the XBox One controller. Very comfortable and works great.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

I swear by Logitech F710. Wireless and works as easily as X360 controller (Xinput = no drivers needed) but also has a switch for DirectInput for older games. It uses the DualShock layout instead of X360, but the icons/labels are X360. The directional pad is far superior than that of X360 controller; it has a nice mechanical feeling to it.

The XBOX360 controller is rock solid and works great. It´s just plug and play since it has got full Microsoft support. Sure there are others out there (like Logitech) that work great but to me the X360 is awesome.
