Computer build help?

Go to solution Solved by MTROB,

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HfRTZL

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($338.99 @ NCIX US)

Motherboard: Asus Z97M-PLUS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($126.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($324.99 @ NCIX US)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($51.99 @ NCIX US)

Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($67.99 @ Micro Center)

Total: $910.94

The Corsair 350D fits mATX mother boards.

If you don't need the 32GB of RAM for After Effects, you can get less. The CPU comes with a cooler, but if you are going to overclock you would need a better one.

The only reason to get a workstation board, is if you have something like a network card, or other pci card, that you need to be sure the board will work with. If you don't have a network card or other pci card, a non workstation board will work fine.

I have the corsair 350 D and I am basically rebuilding my pc. I need a lot of help choosing basically everything. I do a lot of after effects and Photoshop but I also do some gaming. I dont know what to choose cpu wise and I dont know what type of motherboards the 350 d even supports. Please help because I need a lot of it

What GPU and SSD you got?

Also, does the budget also include peripherals such as mouse and monitor or do you already have those?

I have a 6gb super clocked EVGA 780 and I have 2 480 gb pny xlr8 ssds. I already have all of the monitors and peripherals that I need

To be honest I don't think you need the full 1000$ budget, unless you want a six core cpu:

thank you so much I am defiantly going to go with this. But the motherboard says that it supports up to 3200 mhz ram but the cpu only supports up to 1600 mhz does that mean that i cant get anything over 1600 mhz?

Sure you can, it's no problem. I would recommend to go with 2133MHz RAM because it will make a difference if you are using after effects etc. Mor than 2133MHz would be unnecessary imo though. And I would recommend getting a better PSU than MTROB suggested. Get the one I suggested in my list, it's better in every way and even cheaper at the moment.

Oh and make sure to get a CPU cooler. You don't want to use a 4790K with the stock heatsink. And since you mentioned overclocking: Get a liquid cooler like the Corsair H100i or H105.

That PSU is better. However as said above if you were to be overclocking, you will need a different cooler, than the stock one included with the CPU. An all in one water cooling system, like the H100i or H105, will help you get better overclocking results, an air based one is perfectly fine. The H100i does fit inside your case.

How can a 600W 80 Plus Bronze PSU be better than a 650W 80 Plus Gold PSU? Both are Semi Modular and don't say Seasonic is a bad manifacturer ... They are way more experienced than Corsair and produce far more PSUs.
