Hey there. I just built this on PCPartPicker, however, I will be buying it over the next 6 months so I don't strain my wallet. While I'm fairly certain all the parts were well put together (I'm open to suggestions) one thing to note is the i7 is marked down because I am a part of the intel retail edge and I'm really banking on the sales being very similar to the summer sales that just passed a few months back. I know this is going to sound a little stupid, but what I'm REALLY concerned about at the moment, is that I want it all to look nice in the case (it has a window). My last build just looked like a random pile of cords and parts put together, I'm willing to spend a little more to get a nicer look. Let me know what you guys think.

Looks good to me. Just spend a good amount of time routing your cables. A fully-modular PSU would help with this. One of the EVGA G2' would be my recommendation (budget permitting of course). BTW you need a Z board for OC'ing. So if you're not OC'ing get the non-K 4770/4790.

Get a 4790, and wait to see how the new Nvidia GPU's will look.

1) Is there that much more performance difference from the 4770 to the 4790? I think it's like a $100 difference.

2) Waiting isn't a problem, but is there anything to expect? While I'm fairly familiar with diagnosing/repairing/building computers, I don't know a lot about the different lines of components. What pro's will be for waiting? And around what time?

20$ difference,

within the next month or two the new nvidia gpu lineup is rumored to come out.

Thanks for the help. I've always heard people arguing against buying new lines because that makes you the 'test dummy'. Thoughts?

Nice. But I would suggest a few changes. A Z97 motherboard and aftermarket cpu cooler so you can take advantage of the unlocked cpu should you ever want to. A different memory kit to take advantage of dual channel memory. Also fits the color scheme on the motherboard. A different gpu brand to better fit the color scheme. And a less expensive case so that the budget doesn't change. Note: my pricing doesn't include mail in rebates.

A buddy of mine told me my GPU needs a better PSU. Is that true? He said like a 750w.

It wouldn't hurt to have a slightly larger psu.. But 750W would only be needed if the plan was to add a second gpu.

I actually went a little bit of a different route (thank you for all your help.) While PCPartPicker says everything is compatible, I am getting a message I wonder if I should be worried about. Here's the build, and the message will be below.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H90 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($79.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($139.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 280 3GB DirectCU II Video Card  ($208.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Corsair 450D ATX Mid Tower Case  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $854.91

Compatibility Notes
  • icon_info_sgl.gifThe G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory operating voltage of 1.6V exceeds the Intel Haswell CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.

The message is accurate in so far as Intel's cpu spec. However, the memory is XMP certified by Intel which is a tacit indication that Intel has no problem with the cpu controlling memory at the higher voltage. The message is simply CYA.

Personally I would have gone with an air tower cooler. But there is nothing wrong with an AIO. Not sure if you saw this review, http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Corsair-H90-CPU-Cooler-Review/1729/6. It provides some interesting data on how the H80i can perform relative to the H90.

I wanted the H80i but I didn't think it was compatible with my case! (edited)
