I want to install a Cooler Master 212 Evo cooler on my AMD FX-6300 CPU.

The questions are:-

*Why we should use "Isopropyl alcohol" to clean the surface of the CPU, is there any alternative?

*Can I use other alcohol?

*Can I use a piece of cloth?

*How much thermal compound should I apply on CPU?

Please answer all of them....

Has the CPU been used before? Is there already thermal compound on it?

If this is a new CPU then you can just apply the thermal compound straight to it, the use of ispropyl alchohol is to assist with the removal of old paste.

We recommend isopropyl because it is effective at cleaning the surface of a CPU's IHS (the part you can see), it evaporates quickly and leaves very little residue behind, making it ideal for the purpose of cleaning electrical components.

You should apply a pea sized blob of compound in the centre of the CPU, don't spread it yourself just place the cooler straight down onto it and the compound will spread itself.

I recommend the use of high quality compound such as Noctua NT-H1.

I am using it right now...with stock cooler.

Then yes, you should aquire some isopropyl alcohol, then use some kitchen towels to get the worst of it off and then perhaps a Q-tip to remove the rest, then get some of the alcohol on the q tip and rub the serface of the CPU clean, use new Q-tips until you can see no more compound on the Q-tip after rubbing it on the CPU surface.

After that you apply your new paste and fit your cooler as I have directed above.

If you want to know anything else just ask, I can post videos of the application process if that would be helpful.

We don't have chemical stores around here, can I use another alcohol?

Please answer all of them....

1. Either Isopropyl or Artic Silver TIM removal kit.....if using Isopropyl, try and get the 99% variety as it limits residue and evaporates quicker...

2. Would'nt suggest it, but its your CPU... :o

3. If it's a lint free cloth sure, but coffee filters work the best IMO. ;)

4. Look around the web and you will find that there are many of ways to apply the stuff but general rule is a dot the size of a rice grain..then place your cooler on top and tighten down (use a X pattern to get even pressure)

Insofar as a TIM to use....I have had good luck with IC Diamond and Noctua NT-H1.  Over time, the IC Diamond will etch the lid of your CPU, but this has not affected the function of my CPUs....both Intel and AMD.
