760 reference vs 270X hawk

Go to solution Solved by GhostWindGamer,

Go with the 760

which one should I go with for 1080p gaming if they are at the same price?

I am a member of the PCMasterRace. I am terribly sad to announce that I own a PeasantStation 3 Super Slim. it's in a drawer away from my glorious PC.

I assume this is for another build as your sig says you have a 780, the 760 is faster but there is merit in going for a non-refernence design even if it's slower. It will be cooler and quieter so the 270x is still an option.

What cooler does it have? When you say a card is reference you should be specific as to whether the card is a reference card with a reference cooler or a reference card with an aftermarket cooler.

Depend on your ambient temperature, the ref cooler is not that good. The card will end up throttling most of the times on GPU limited games.

+1

Plus the R9 270x Hawk is probably OC and has a decent cooler so the performance gap will not be big (if there is any).
