Ranger and Hero

Go to solution Solved by xewp,

I asked the same question on JJ's PCDIY youtube channel. He gave me this reply

"The HERO offers
1. A more advanced VRM but the RANGER VRM is extremely capable and very  high quality with some components being higher than what we use in the channel series. Overall both will be reliable, stable and efficient in operation and offer enough power delivery output for any overclocking. I have overclocked the RANGER and HERO to the same max frequencies up to 4.8GHz and 2400MHz on the memory.
2. 6 Fan headers as opposed to 5. The fan control functionality is still full Fan Xpert II. The most advanced controls offered on a motherboard.
3. 8 SATA ports compared to 6 SATA ports
4. Dual color PCB and PCH led. These are not present on the RANGER."

Hope this helps

The ranger is Z97 as well...

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_RANGER/

Anyway, the differences are likely in the hardware like a different amounts of sata ports, less fan headers, no onboard power or reset buttons, less ports, less onboard usb 3 ports, ect...

To find the exact difference it would be best to compare the two boards on Asus' site.
