Fb messenger app alternative

Hey guys first, sorry but I didn't find a better category to post this in.

So my thing is that I run an old xperia S phone, while it can do most of the things I want it to do(not well tho...) my problem with fb messenger has been that it just lags and freezes up all the time. I'm writing a line, send it then almost every time but at least I have a 50-50 chance the app freezes up(doesn't force close) and the next good 5-10 seconds I type isn't recorded or just gets horribly messed up, or just sometimes I write it down faster than it can recover from this frozen up state, making my daily texting pretty frustrating.

So what I would like you to do for me is suggest other apps that are a lot more lightweight and basically tap into my Facebook contact list and makes me able to text them hassle free, fluidly.

So what app do you suggest? I don't really care about features either Also I tried out Fast for Facebook messenger and it didn't work out for me.

This is really awkward considering your device. The worst Android phone I have is an HTC MyTouch 4G and it can type in Facebook Messenger perfectly fine. While the Snapdragon S3 is an older chip it should still be perfectly fine for Facebook messenger. I'd try a factory reset on your device.

Well my take on it is that it's an old phone and I'm pretty much a power user and I'm fully loaded with apps and that hinders the phones overall performance. Also I'm running a custom rom but I had a Xperia p as well running stock firmware and it did the same (loaded up with apps as well). Well whatever then I'm planning to go for the nexus 6 anyway hopefully soon enough ^^
