Hey all, just wanted to run a build I am planning for a family member to replace their current (crappy emachines) pc.

It will be for general use, i.e. web surfing, YouTube, word, powerpoint, email, music playing.

Here is the PCpartspicker link: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/x3RLFT

Thanks for any feedback in advance!

So, signatures are a thing. How does one do them? Is this right?

Looks pretty good for $442

Ola Englund does not approve of your hashtags. Sleep is for the weak, insomnia builds character.

As you are reading this you are slowly traveling forwards in time to where you will get out of the time machine and continue to read posts. Too spookyfor100me.

Pointless to get a Pentium if you aren't going to overclock it (I'm assuming you aren't because you aren't getting an aftermarket cooler). For that budget I think a cheap locked i5 would be much better for your use (or get an i3 and save some money). The power supply seems a bit overkill, unless you have extremely expensive power costs in your area or something. Also maybe bump it up to 8 GB of RAM if you have any extra to spend.

Thanks for the feedback, you are right that I do not intend to OC this build. So the suggestion to go to a different processor is a good one, but why not a G3420 instead of a G3220? And any ideas for a better PSU choice?

So, signatures are a thing. How does one do them? Is this right?

Okay, so I went with the G3220, switched the power supply, and went to 8gb of ram.

Here's the new list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fWBNxr

I like this a little better because its the same price with more ram and a more appropriate cpu (thanks for pointing that out)

Yeah, that's the only thing I would change. depends on what they say (I'm building it for someone else). If they're ok with that price then I'll keep the case, but if not then I'd change it.
