Hi, this is my first time doing this so go easy on the technical talk lol.

My build so far (by the way i'm english so will be going in £)

CPU - AMD FX-6350 - £87.50

Memory - 8GB Patriot signature - £53.93

Storage - WD 1TB Hard drive - £30.99

Video Card - MSI radeon R9 270 2GB twin frozr -  £127.52

Case - NZXT H440 white - £88.99

Power supply - corsair  cx 430W 80+ bronze semi-modular - £34.86

Motherboard - (????????)was thinking about crossfire

So can i have your suggestions on anything...in particular the motherboard lol

Total price - £423.79

Would like to keep it under £500 for all hardware...inc mouse keyboard ect

I plan to hook this up to my 19" TV

I would like this to play most games at mid/high settings without really any frame drops.

THANK YOU FOR ANY INPUT

P.S this will take the place of my XBOX 360 so it will be my first PC gaming experience

So I would recommend switching the CPU to an Athlon II X4 because it will perform better in games, is cheaper and the mainboards are cheaper. I just put a pcpartpicker link together:

Or with an i3. You can upgrade to an i5 'k' cpu in the future.

Thanks to everyone, but because AMD is more "bang for your buck" i have to go with AMD. Big thanks to HELD657 and thyfeared. However few questions.does the  athlon X4 preform better in games? Also, because i will probably be overclocking the cpu would you suggest water cooling? if so, what parts?...i'm going for maybe a red & black colour scheme.

I just saw that you chose a FX 6350. The Athlon II X4 760K will not perform better, but about the same while being much cheaper (much because the mainboards are also cheaper). So I'd go with the Athlon, that way you can get a better GPU, which is much more important for gaming. This way the result will be better. Also the Athlon X4 760K and FX 6350 both won't overclock much, they are alredy clocked really high. And even if you overclock a bit it won't change much, if anything at all. For the Athlon you defenetly need no water cooler to overclock. With the FX probably yes or at least a much better air cooler). So again a plus for the Athlon in my eyes.

EDIT: If you look at this comparison you see what I mean: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/94/AMD_Athlon_X4_760K_vs_AMD_FX-Series_FX-6350.html

The Discrete Graphics Performance basically means games in this comparison. The FX6350 is a bit better, but not enough to care.

So Athlon II X4 760K + R9 270X > FX 6350 + R9 270

Just to show you what I mean saying Athlon is way cheaper, here's a pcpartpicker link with only CPU, mainboard and PSU switched (the 430W wouldn't be enough).

So 115 pounds is quiet much I think for 3% better gaming perfomance regarding the CPU. The mainboard is a comparable AM3+ to the FM2+ I suggested. Altough if you plan on overclocking CPU and maybe also GPU you should go with the 500W PSU anyway (I mean also with the Athlon). But it's still a 105 pounds price difference then.

OK, to be honest i'm going to do anything that is to hardcore, no video editing or anything like that so yeah i see you're point about the Athlon II X4 760K. This will just be used for gaming and school work. But you definitely recomend and after market cooler for the CPU?   Oh and yeah its a lot cheaper!

Yes I do recommend an after market cooler, defenetly 100% sure  . The stock cooler gives you crappy temps at a noise level that makes your ears bleed. And the 212 EVO is a great cooler for the price. It will make your PC run cooler and quieter, even with an overclock. Also it would offer a possibility to buy a 120mm red LED fan for the heatsink maybe ?!?

That comes down to how sensetive you are. My gaming rig runs at max 18dB under load. I'm a bit of a silent fetishist. But the AMD boxed cooler is really loud for nearly everyone. And the temps are okay, but far away from good. Trust me it's worth to invest the extra 25 pounds, especially in an NZXT H440 where you get nearly no fresh air to the components.
