I have a Razer Chimaera Stereo Wireless Headset at the moment, It has obvious pros like being able to walk around in my dorm room, being able to comfortably game from my bed using a controller etc. But, when sitting down for a long gaming session it is too heavy. the mic is crap on it so I bought a Trust Starzz Microphone.

So far what I like the most is ROCCAT™ Kave XTD 5.1 Digital – Premium 5.1 Surround Headset with USB Remote & Sound Card

http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Sound/ROCCAT-Kave-XTD-5-1-Digital/

The main pros in this one:
- 5.1 sourround

- good weight distribution

- Solid build quality
- bluetooth paring with mobile

- output for 5.1 speakers and easy switiching between speakers and Headphones
- Funny voice altering option
-Blue leds fit the blue theme I am going for

Cons:
-high price.
-Useless mic as in I have a better one on the table.

Since it's a shitton of money I am looking into alternatives to make a fully informed decision.

So any good headset/headphones you can recommend.

The color black with blue is very much so preferrable.

well 170 euro is what the Roccat Kave costs. so that would be the limit

With that budget you could always check out Sennheiser 518/558. Very popular (for a good reason) open back headphones. Open design gives them a wider sound stage which translates to better surround in games. You do not need a "gaming headset" with "5.1 surround" to get surround, a stereo headphones will work just fine, if not better. Most often the whole surround trickery is already built-in to the game, but you can always download Razer's free surround software to achieve the same effect all those 5.1 and 7.1 surround headsets do.

If you need a new microphone, you can always buy Zalman ZM-MIC1 for around 10 euros which will have just as good quality as any gaming headset, and it clips to the headphones' cord.
