Hi, I have an Intel Core i5 4670K and a GTX 780 SC and with any game that relies even a little bit on the CPU starts to lag and stutter a bit. I have this problem in most games I have and I know this is a CPU issue because it is gone when I overclock my CPU to 4.4GHz. The reason I don't keep the overclock is because it is extremely unstable. Is there any way to test my CPU to make sure it is performing at it's highest potential?

it could be unstable run a benchmark like cinnebench and than compare scores in the internet if its lower than it should be or unstable at stock clocks than rma

my 4690k at stock clocks doesn't bottleneck at all

Updating your Motherboards bios to the latest can get rid of any interfering issues it may have.

Make sure your PC is at higher clocks @ stock/idle by using High Performance Power Profiles and set 100% MinCore Frequency in Advanced Options.

It won't declock on idle as far, and the initial starting of programs will not be as laggy.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I have already upgraded the BIOS to the latest version and set the power profile to high performance.

Is this a normal score for Heaven benchmark with V-Sync on?

Don't run Heaven with V-Sync on.  I have an i5-4670k + EVGA GTX 780 SC and my score for Heaven is ~58 fps with my GPU @ 1110Mhz.

Disable your Intel HD Graphics, disable power saving features in BIOS,

You should be getting flawless performance during BF4 at stock settings on the CPU and GPU...

Lucid Virtu, basically enabling your iGPU and run it in parallel with your dedicated GPU. Useful when you want to use the iGPU features like QuickSync but from what I read usually it cause problems in games...

I personally have never use it but to disable it should be as simple disabling your iGPU in BIOS. Probably google will yield better advice as I have never enabled it myself so dont take my words for it....

I tried that and it didn't change anything. It could also be V-Sync causing the stutter because I tried Call of Juarez Gunslinger without V-Sync and I got around 200 fps.

the ONLY situation in wich i use VSYNC personaly is for racing games...i find it smooter but other than that i never use VSYNC.

And i've come to realise that for Vsync to work great (at 60FPS in my case at least) you need to be able to run the game at much higher framerates with a MINIMUM absolute framerate ABOVE the 60FPS mark...if you can't achieve that with the hardware you have and settings you use then turn off vsync is a must.

In short i would say that for VSYNC to be smooth you have to be in a situation where your PC is actualy overkill for the game/content you are rendering.
