Hey Guys...

I am planning to build a gaming pc for around 1200€/1600$. As I am a Nvidia fan boy, it is clear of which brand my graphics card will be.

Apart of that aspect, can you give me a few tips where I can save money to get better performence and spend it at somewhere else where it is more necessary?

Sheduled setup: Intel Core i7-4790k

                           EKL Alpenföhn Brocken 2

                           MSI Z97 Gaming 7 Socket 1150 ATX

                           G.Skill TridentX DDR3-2400 CL10 8GB Kit

                           Gigabyte GV-N770OC-4GD Windforce 3X 4.0 GB OC

Samsung SSD 840 Pro Series 128GB

                           Seagate Barracuda 1TB, 7200U/min, SATA3, 3.5"

be quiet! Power Zone 650 Watt

                           Cooler Master HAF X

Get an 840 EVO, Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 5 and slower RAM and you should be able to get a 780.

For a gaming pc you do not need DDR3-2400 CL10. Drop that to 1600/1866 CL9 and that should save a bit of money. Then drop the PSU to 550W since 650 is kinda overkill. Since you're gaming an I7 is wasted since current games can't use the hyperthreading. Replace the I7 with an I5-4690k and get a GTX 780 or maybe even Ti and that will give you much better performance.

EDit: Hell 500W will be enough with a 780

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

I find that there isn't that much of a price difference between 1600 and 2400 Ram (at least here in UK).

What's the price on that 2400 RAM then?

Edit: Never mind just saw.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f314900cl9d8gbxl = 61,53 1866 CL9

You are right

Here is what i am talking about  :)

YOUR BASKET

1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (TXD38G2400HC10QDC01)  £67.99

1 x TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38GM1600HC11DC01)  £61.99

Total : £138.68 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Both are the cheapest ram sets from 1600 and 2400 speeds. Not a huge amount in it.

In New Zealand the difference between i5 and i7 is like $100 and the difference between 770 and 780 is around $200+

Never said it would make the difference entirely but still it would clear quite a bit of the difference.
