Are there any instances where a push/pull configuration would benefit from having an air optimized fan? I know generally speaking, you want to use pressure optimized, but would changing either the push or pull (not both, just one) to an air op make any difference? Or am I better off sticking with the dual pressure op?

Thanks.

In normal configurations, I think it is better to stick with having pressure optimized fans. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think it could be beneficial if you have something like a 240mm rad at the front of your case and use pressure fans to push air into the rad and air optimized fans to pull air into the case. But, for normal configurations where you are pushing and pulling air out of the case, it is good to have pressure optimized fans.

Oh, I see this is in the air cooling section. Are you talking about a CPU cooler? If so, then it would be best to have two pressure optimized fans

Really the push pull config doesn't do anything to improve cooling performance but i would still recommend pressure optimized fans. If i were you though i would just go for pull because if you need to clean the rad it will be right there instead of having to take off fans. ps linus actually tested this

if the radiator is thicker you must use an Static Preassure fan or pressure optimized as u say, if the thickeness is standar you should also use those fans;but wont make as much of a difference.

Also with standar rads you wont notice a big difference between push+pull  ,    push   ,   or pull becacuse the temperature differecence (which is the driving force of the heat exchangement) between ambient  and you rad fins will be constant if the air goes quick enought through the rad

if the rad is thicker the air that you are pulling or pushing will move slower due to the thickness of the rad itself which will cause the heating of the pushed air which will deacre the temperature difference so the performance will decrease

to sum up

Thick rads: PREASURE FANS (pull+push means an slightly better performance)

Standar rads: Preasure fans if possible, if not the standar fans will do it well too ( push+push wont even improve 3 ºC )

Alright, thanks for the tips. I figured the dual Static ops would be best, just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything.

It's actually for a CPU water cooler and some hard drive cages in a Corsair C70. I figured air cooling section cause it was more about the fans themselves.

Oh ok, makes sense. Yeah, go for the dual static optimized fans.
