How much voltage per Ghz is needed?

I am attempting to overclock my AMD FX-9370.

I'm doing a bit of research before I do it, and I'm asking here too for assistance because I'm sure many of you know how to overclock more then I do.

So how much voltage should I apply to get to 4.8GHz, and if that is stable, I'll push it to 4.9GHz, then 5.0GHz.

Currently it is auto-overclocked too 4.7Ghz with a base clock of 4.4GHz.

Also feel free to give any suggestions, before I overclock, it'd help me out a bunch!

...you bought a 9370...

Yea, lol.

It was a pretty good deal though.

what's wrong with the 9370? i don't think there's anything wrong with it but maybe that's because i'm somewhat of an AMD fanboy :P

Adjust the clock until it's unstable, then increase the voltage a little. The 9370 doesn't have much overclocking headroom though.

Okay, thanks for the tip.

But may I ask how much voltage is a "little"?

what's wrong with the 9370?

It is insanely overpriced for what you are getting. An Intel at the same price point will destroy it.

I should be studying.

There is no set amount. It is all up to how good of a chip you have.

It will be different depending on the chip. 9370s are less binned then the FX-8xxx so it'll likely be more stable but there's trial and error in overclocking for a reason. If all chips of one model could overclock with the same settings then life would be a lot easier

Hmm, just do it in very small increments. Something like 0.05 volts at a time.

Okay, thank you so much, I'll try it now!

i've seen them being sold for $200,the only competitors at that price point are low-end i5's and high end i3's which won't do as well

They are priced at $300 now, so unless OP paid less than a 4670k, he overpaid. And since when does an i3 cost $200? Where have I been?

I should be studying.
