Hi there,

So I have this old Kenwood 3kW Component System lying around... Think it's a good idea to add to my setup? I have enough room for it (and my room is fucking cramped) and I think I'll just need to buy a pair of ~2'6" bookshelves and a few meters of #20 speaker wires to get the setup...

It's a quadrophonic system (2 main speakers (which has a sub, midrange, and tweeter each), 2 satellite speakers)...

P.S.
I need to get it loud enough to disturb my neighbors (as retribution for blasting their crap music)... I'll be blasting Korpiklaani and Rammstein once they start their noise...

I guess so... I'm just tired of the vulgar crap that they play (the bad Filipino rap and none of the good Gloc9/Francis Magalona stuff)... Imagine listening to Baby (by 'that guy'), and 2 other bad singers (whose song choices are half-decent) on loop for four hours straight and you can't confront them (because of local culture)...

If you got the space and money go for it. If you're looking for some cheap, decent bookshelf speakers you should check out Micca MB42/MB42X.

I already have the speakers... I'm just having some trouble with positioning... They're on the floor right now so I need some functional shelves to put them on high enough so that the sound can get out through the window...

Window height is around 3' from the floor and extend until 7" from the ceiling... Room size is around 6'x8' (which is cramped with a few cabinets)...

Oh, my bad haha, I misunderstood. I guess just go look around Ikea for something that'll work? And speaker wire is pretty cheap, you can get 100 ft for under $10.

Is #20 wire good or are the thinner #18 ones better for this?

Are you talking about the gauge of the wire? I would personally get 16 or 14 gauge (14 gauge is larger than 16 gauge). I use 16 gauge and it works fine, something like this should work: http://www.amazon.com/RCA-AH16100SR-16-Gauge-Speaker-Wire/dp/B0029HHIDY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406561078&sr=8-1&keywords=16+gauge+speaker+wire+100+ft

Thanks for the help... I'll have to stick to the physical shops that I know of (because of reasons) and get the (reasonably priced) thicker (the #20 is the 16 gauge I think) ones...

P.S.

Screw the weird wire size standard that the shops use...
