Hey LTT,

I am trying to update my Maximus Hero BIOS to the latest version (1505) but I keep getting "Wrong file type" or "Get blocks error" depending on if I use AI Suite to try and update or the update application that comes with the BIOS download. FIle type is .CAP. The update says that it allows for Devil Canyon CPU's to be used. DO I need a Haswell refresh CPU to get this BIOS update? If it helps I have a flashed BIOS on my GPU.

Thanks!

you still can use your 4770K even when you update your BIOS

can you use the BIOS Reflash button method?

my sig has the steps

but that is half of it

you will have to use the BIOS utilities to complete the update in windows

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Don't keep trying to update your BIOS too much if you're getting an error in case of breaking it :P

Getting an error before updating the bios doesn't seem like it would hurt it at all, the bios never starts to flash. Should've made that clearer in the OP. My bad.
