So I plan on upgrading to haswell, but it seems my cpu isn't supported. I use a seasonic S12II 620 Watt PSU and seasonic said it was not supported. The reason is because the PSU can't deliver little power to the cpu while it's in the C6/C7 power saving state. My question is can I just disable those power saving state? That would be sad if I can't and need to get a new PSU on top of a mobo and the cpu.

Well i dont think anyone officially knows but if they are making this big of a deal about supported psus i would say its not a option. that really sucks, i would try and call seasonic and see if they can work something out for you. its worth a shot

http://www.corsair.com/us/blog/haswell-compatibility-with-corsair-power-supplies/

here are Corsair PSU-s that pass this test, I myself have a TX 650 v2

just a note, Corsair does not make their power supplies so keep in mind that OEM-s that make it for Corsair build PSU-s for other brands and under the cover they are similar

Corsair OEM-s are: Flextronics, Seasonic, CWT, and 1 more i can't find

So if you buy a PSU from a brand that uses these OEM-s you should be just fine

"Hi Jason,

Sorry, the S12II is NOT Haswell ready.
You might be able to work around the issue with adding case fan and or of course disable C6 & C7 functions.

Hi Jason,

C6 & C7 can be disabled via the MB BIOS that uses the Haswell CPU.  It is extra energy savings modes.
Adding a case fan is only to add a "load" to trick the PSU & Haswell MB/CPU combination and has nothing to do with temperature.

Thank you,
Walter"

So i'll be fine, it seems as long as there is some kind of load on the psu even at idle it will handle it. Considering I'm going h220 + dedicated gpu and a few hdd/case fan it will be okay. Even so, I could disable those c6/c7 states.
