It will be somewhere near an I5 in performance yet be slated and frowned upon based on a well known internet sites benchmarks in specific applications not really relevant to what AMD CPUs excel at.

On a more serious note I heard they are scrapping the 990FX stuff soon, guess you'll need more than a BIOs update to get a Steamroller CPU if that's the case. Perhaps just a new chipset, or maybe a new socket on the way some day soon, the current one has been going on long enough it must be said.

I am an Intel owner myself but I must say I am a fan of AMD CPUs, I don't think many people actually understand the point of an AMD CPU, even if unintentional there are many circumstances where its really not logical to get anything but an AMD CPU, I hope AMD build on that as Ive never seen anything (even the Sandybridge-E CPUs) transcode video as well as a decent AMD CPU and as another example if I was building a small media PC I wouldn't use anything but a APU for it.

I remember reading that we are going to see an up to 30% boost in IPC from the piledriver architecture. And i think this is the last architecture they are turning out before integrating everything (only making APUs)

Not nessacerly a bad thing, I know a lot of people who have brought an APU for a budget gaming setup without a PCI-E Graphics Card, if AMD can merge the decent performance of high end FX CPUs with the great graphics of the APU family of processors without making it melt to your motherboard it really could be the start of something new, especially in SFF gaming PCs that don't have space for a dedicated graphics card.

Cases on the market like the Bitfenix Shinobi have proven gaming PCs do not need to be the size of a small sea container, surely with a decent CPU and GPU combined into one they could get even smaller.

i welcome a new chipset, so long as it has native PCI-E 3.0 support. AMD has relied far too long on the 900 series chipsets; it's time they made something new for it. hopefully it doesn't bomb as bad as Bulldozer... #knockonwood

I'm really excited about the new AMD chips, especially in comparison with the Intel lga 1155/1150 stuff, since Intel is getting boring, the only thing they improve is less power and less overclockability. I am seriously considering ditching Intel for good with my next upgrade.

The only reason they are doing that, is because they can :/ I hope AMD can turn out something fantastic and start sparking some fanboy wars/Giving Intel a run for their money.I mean you have Jim Keller lets start doing something remarkable :)

AMD used to give Intel a run for it's money a while back, but unfortunately it seems hard right now.

There has even been rumors about Intel bribing benchmark coders to use unbeneficial code for AMD. Same with GPUs, as you can see, they have always smoked the 680...

I have seen multiple benchmarks a while back [sadly don't remember the pages, will post as soon as I find them again.] of even Bulldozer smoking up to a 3930k on Linux. And the fact that Windows 7 still isn't and Windows 8 is somewhat better for AMD cpus, cause of some bad code... weeeeeeeeeird ... -.-

And I really love Logan for having the balls to throw this out there.

What I really like about AMD is that they are trying their best right now [cause they have to], while Intel is not giving a shit and still brings the same performance, because there is no need to improve.

Same with Nvidia's cards... the Titan should have been the 680 "but benchmarks are fine let them buy the other stuff for 600$" -.-'
