Hi, I'm going to be building my first system in a week. I was wondering if anyone had any input on my build. It is primarily for Gaming, and light work station use.

I'm doing a custom Water Cooling setup, thats why I have the cheapest 780 Ti on the market, and I plan on getting a second GPU when the price of the 780 Ti's drop. Either that or if they have a bundle of games that interests me ;3 I also plan on getting a Shield if Nvidia confirms a Shield 2. The main purpose of this build is for Gaming (Going 4K when the XB280HK launches). I also plan on doing content creation in the Adobe Suite, so I want to take advantage of the CUDA accelerations. I also plan on doing Cuda Development. Hence why I chose a single 8 Gig stick of ram. SO I can upgrade later. I plan on getting the Corsair RGB K95 and M65 when they launch. I also plan on OCing on this machine.

And I'm trying to stick to as few brands as possible... What can I say? I'm an advocate for Unity.

I also want a Full Tower case.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

i7 9700K (5.2Ghz @1.2V); MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC; Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3200 CAS 16; H100i RGB Platinum; Samsung 970 Evo 1TB; Samsung 850 Evo 500GB; WD Black 3 TB; Phanteks 350x; Corsair RM19750w.

Laptop: Dell XPS 15 4K 9750H GTX 1650 16GB Ram 256GB SSD

I find it hard to read your post with that thumbnail... So majestic!

And I want to avoid Adata SSD's. Iv'e read that they have are unstable, and one of my friend's had his Adata SSD break within 2 months.

As for the GPU's I plan on doing Cuda development, and using them to accelerate Adobe suites... Plus I plan on buying a shield soon, and a Gsync compatible monitor.

For the monitor I want to get a decent 1080p IPS monitor that is relatively cheap. As stated above I plan on getting the 4K Gsync Acer monitor when it's released in a few months. So I kinda need an Nvidia GPU to utilize that...

And yes. I am a silence freak.

And I don't really like the aesthetics of the Fractal cases.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RVmvdC how is that? The R4 is made for silence and for the monitor there is the Korean 1440P

@niofalpha, a few suggestions. More memory, I've included a kit that complements the motherboard colors. If you really don't want 16GB at least get a 2x4GB kit so that the system can run dual channel.

A less expensive but good quality ssd. Performance is roughly the same when all benchmarks are taken into account.

I also suggest a better psu.

I plan on upgrading to 16 GB in the future. My hopes are that DDR4 will send the current gen Products price's down. Until then i'm going with a single 8 Gig stick so I can upgrade later, and not be stuck at 16 Gigs. If I find I really have too I can buy another of these Dimms right off the bat.

What's wrong with the PSU? I found it had great reviews. I was considering upgrading to the AX860i, but I didn't think the extra efficiency and 10 watts was gonna make that much of a difference, in terms of the 50 extra dollars price.

It is unlikely that DDR4 is going to impact the price of DDR3 anytime in the next year.

The motherboard has 4 memory banks. Why not get a 2x4GB kit now? That will allow you to upgrade to 16GB or 24GB later on.

There are a number of very so so reviews of the RM-850. But all the reviews, including any good ones, are of a discontinued model. Corsair is shipping a new model RM-850 and there are no reviews for it. There are better quality psu at the same or lower price point. The XFX unit I suggested is built by Seasonic and is quite good. The AX-860 is also build by Seasonic and the AX-860i is built by Flextronics, both are excellent units. EVGA 220-G2-0850-XR, built by Super Flower, has been getting excellent reviews. It is very well priced at the moment and had I noticed it previously I would have recommended it instead of the XFX.

The important difference in psu is not efficiency but the quality of components used, the build quality, and the quality of power delivered power.

Ahh! Thanks!

I went with the AX860. Does that perform nicely, and quietly?

And I went with 2 Individual 1x8 Gigs of ram. It was ~20$ cheaper than a single 2x8 gig kit, due to a mail in rebate.

The AX-860 is an excellent choice.

There is a small chance that you will have to fiddle with BIOS memory settings to get the two sticks operating at the advertised speed in dual channel. Otherwise they may well operate at DDR3-1333.
