Hey guys! So, I just wanted to try out some simulator games and the first one that popped in ma mind was a flight simulator game. I'd like to try out any flight simulator game that's popular. I'd like if it's free, but paid works too until and unless it's under 15$.

I don't know much about flight simulation games....

So please don't ask me any questions...

EDIT: Do I have to buy a joystick for these games?

I would suggest Warthunder, as it is free on steam. YOu don't need a joystick, but I would suggest one, or at least a Xbox controller (or similar), as it is difficult to accomplish much with keyboard and mouse in combat flight.

I would suggest trying out Microsoft Flight, and/or Flight Simulator X(FSX)
They are both simulators. Microsoft Flight is a bit more arcady though, where as FSX is simulating just about anything you would want it to simulate - A joystick is recommended for either, but you CAN do it with a keyboard and mouse, it's just not ideal though...

Bare in mind that they really do SIMULATE a lot of stuff, from gear up and down, to de-frosting wings, weight balance and weather.

Everyone have a cool signature. I don't, so I thought I would write something.

- Cool right?

warthunder is pretty easy to get into, you use your mouse to aim the plane and then wasd to control speed and tilting the wings, r to reload, space for bombs, ctrl for rockets.

The tutorial is pretty robust, im pretty skilled at that game with the keyboard and mouse, i just recommend that when they ask you what country you wanna use make sure you are either russian or american, they have the best planes.

Just a warning due to the massive range of rendering the game has pretty high requirements, you macbook will not max it

FlightSimX by Microsoft

War thunder is NOT a flight simulator. Simulators are supposed to be as realistic as possible. And from my experience, War Thunder is not that.

I take it you never played the realistic missions then. They are even more realistic than the normal mode.

XPlane 10 (for desktop) is amazing, but rather pricey, tho just fine if this is your hobby (nothing crazy, I think it is around $40).

Currently, I play XPlane on my iPad, which is just $10 and is really good. The only thing is that controls are partially mapped to tilting the device, which may or may not be appreciated. Stick control is obviously not possible. I still find it really good tho.

There is always Flightgear, which is Open Source and free. Somewhat hard to get running and all setup, but still pretty good given that it is free.

Warthunder is the only flight sim that I have played and would recommend. The normal modes are pretty realistic but different game modes can provide you with even more of a realistic feel to the game.
