In search for a new notebook? any recommendations.

Hello guys & girls, I'm looking to buy new notebook in the next quarter or so, my budget is oriented at any price under 1000gbp so around 1700usd.

Currently my laptop ia Lenovo Z460, 3 toddler years old, a bit toasty <-understated, compute power isn't satisfactory. I should note the battery died :(

My use case scenario casual browsing, little bit of gaming, photoshop/illustrator.

My criteria

  • 13" or more (minimum 720p display)
  • 6-8GB ram or more (at this price point I know most notebooks run 8 or 16)
  • dual 2.5" slot for ssd/hdd - if it comes with slim-line cd/dvd rewriter & a hdd it's fine.
  • discrete graphics - I don't intend to play triple AAA titles games but I do have the intention of running more than single display for productivity etc
  • optional wireless ac but wireless is fine
  • couple usb ports 3+ /or more (2.0/3.0) if it comes with an sd card reader as well sweet.
  • weight doesn't really matter because I'm strong like everybody else ^_^

Please leave a couple recommendations, if you could follow the topic then post after you've done a little research, thanks. Different brands offer different feature assets not who is being more greedy for anyones money.

I guess I could go make a couple hardware purchases for similarly priced desktop but I'm working on doing that on a later date.

Thanks Kingsley.

2014 is a lacking time to buy a notebook. If it was 2012 I would be having so much fun. But now, it's hard to buy a nice notebook.

Asus, just their normal 15.6" notebook with the 745M 2GB. And the 4500U, do you want quad-core?

And the Acer Aspire 17.3" with GT850M and the 4712MQ CPU.

Inspiron 7000 series 15". 4510U and 750M GPU

I wish there was more, it's hard to find a perfect laptop now. It's quite depressing actually.

This one had the SSD + HDD option that is hard to find that you wanted. And it has a 4K display.

@connorpiper I was taking a look at the Y50 4K edition, I doubt I'll buy it due to not being available in the UK unless when I go back to Malaysia I buy it from my Mom's friend whose the main marketing/important person who takes care of the produce in Malaysia or I get it from the ushipped internationally.

I'll keep in mind the notebooks you've recommended. Thanks for replying.
