So I traded my MBP for a desktop my buddy had.

I do video work and game a lot.

Here's the specs...

Processor - AMD A10-6700 APU with Radeon HD Graphics

Northbridge - AMD K15 IMC rev. 00

Southbridge - AMD A55 FCH rev. 2.4

Memory Size - 12 GB

Mainboard Model - M11BB (0x00000133 - 0x00027F20)

Video Card - AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series 2GB

2nd PCI Slot - Wifi adapter card

Power - Corsair CX600

Recommendations on how to improve this build without breaking my bank?

Location and budget? Need an os and monitor? Keyboard and mouse?

Also read this http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

And quote me to get back to me

1. Budget & Location

Located in VA (Fairfax). Microcenter has a store nearby. $500-800 USD budget for now. More later.

2. Aim

Looking for cheap ways to improve the overall build and order of precedence that people think I should approach the build.

3. Monitors

Dell 22 inch monitor (DVI to the graphics card) -- would like to run a second monitor if possible

4. Peripherals

R.A.T.7 Mouse, Corsair K70, Gamecom 780

5. Why are you upgrading?

Trying to better my system for recording gameplay footage, editing videos and motion graphics.

http://www.asus.com/Desktops/M11BB/ - Before modded

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/F2A55M/ - Motherboard model

12 GB - RAM

I would personally invest in a new MB, CPU, case and GPU. Unless your Macbook was from 2008-12, you might have made a bad trade.

Thank you for the advice.

It seems the general consensus is to get a new MoBo, CPU and Vid Card?

Yeah since you want to do video editing those old parts won't really do the job very well :P Also do you need a hard drive?

It probably was. I got a HP laptop (very baseline model) as part of the trade too for my wife.

I have an external 4TB for storage of raw footage and the sorts. Use the external as a scratch disk as well, but I get the feeling that a SSD would expedite the rendering if I had it as a scratch and the applications stored there instead of my HDD.
