Do I need to do anything before I install a new cpu and new memory? Thanks in advance!

If you are removing an old CPU, be sure to have 70+% rubbing alcohol and toilet paper to clean the TIM off of the heatsink before re-applying.

Yes, I'm going from an amd fx6350 to and 8320.  I'm building my bro a comp and thought I'd give him some of my stuff and get some uogrades.  As for the ram I'm just going from a single stick 8gig to dual 4 gigs.  I'm probably gonna spray paint it white also...

Just be sure to clean the thermal paste of the CPU well enough with isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth.

There won't be any performance increase in games by going to 2x4GB over 1x8GB.

A slight increase in rendering, video editing.

I know, but I thought dual channel painted white would look better in my white 230T that I painted.  I also plan to sell my bro my 212 evo and get an enermax white cluster cooler just for looks as well.....

It's not like I'm ever gonna need more than 16 gigs anyways...

So is there any prepping I need to do to my pc before or after software wise?

You might need to activate your windows again. Everything else should be fine.

Thanks I'll go get started then

Just careful with static electricity. Touch big piece of metal (side panel on your case) every now and then to discharge.

Well I finished around 10 minutes ago and everything is working fine, except for a bit of lag when lifting my gun in bf4 which I'll mess with a bit.  But for now the cpu is working well in other applications, and the nzxt hue lights I installed look fantastic!

Do you mean buy another win disk or just put in the old one and re-install?

you can use the old one. or get an ssd if you can afford it.

just remember that all data will be erased if you install windows on that partition.

sorry, i just noticed my answer was a bit late. sorry.
