Ok, so this is it. I'm deciding between the MSI R9 290 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127774&cm_re=msi_r9_290-_-14-127-774-_-Product

Or Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202080&cm_re=r9_290-_-14-202-080-_-Product
I hear both cool pretty decently.
With either of these they should be able to play game on max with AA at 1080p, at at least 60fps?

I was originally going to get a Gigabyte 770 4gb, but everyone told me that it can't max games out anymore.

Uh YEAH. The 280X will play any game 60fps @1080p on ultra settings.  The 290 is designed to push higher resolutions.

Tri-X hands down. It's one of the best non-reference cards around. It'll max out most games at 1080p 60 FPS with a few exceptions eg Crysis 3.

He wants AA so that power on the 290 with the 4GB VRAM will do him good.

I have a gtx 770 4gb. Get the 290, don't make the same mistake I did. It'll give you much better performance.

Whatever, close enough.  Far Cry and Crysis 3 are exceptions, they're extremely hard on any system.

The Tri-X is excellent and if you can find it and it's within your budget, the vapor x is the best. The only aftermarket 290's I'd look at are the Tri X, Vapor X, and the Powercolor PCS+ (it's a 2.5 slot cooler though if that matters for you)

No need to get annoyed, the fact is the 280x isn't THAT good of a card, it is the upper end of the mid range.

Alright, I was getting a little tired of your arrogant attitude and kind of snapped.  My bad.

That wasn't arrogance, it was correcting you and making sure the OP wasn't misinformed.

You were splitting hairs to much. That said a broken game engine like that of far cry 3 and the like will never run properly even on the best hardware because it's just broken.

Then don't say it can run anything at ultra 60fps, don't use excuses to say "Oh well that's because it's broken" it doesn't matter why it doesn't run at ultra 60, it matters that it doesn't and saying that everything runs at ultra 60 is a lie. CF 290, SLI 780 and up can all max out Far Cry 3 60 fps on a 1080p screen.

Still has massive dips below 60fps though so it's a broken engine . Everyone know that FC3 is a shit console port job.

Okay then nothing can run it at 60 fps. Just because nothing can max everything doesn't mean you can just exclude games... At least say "The 770 can max most games, with the exception of horrible console ports like FC3 and Watch dogs" don't say "Yeah 770 maxes everything"... because that is a lie.

That's your opinion. Yes the 770 can max any games ever made however whats your opinion of playable ? I bet your opinion is different than mine.
