Hey guys I am working on a new build and don't have all the parts yet. I got the motherboard, CPU, powersupply, and CPU cooler and was wondering if i could hook everything up and power it on, or would that damage anything seeing that I dont have ram installed yet.

Haha sorry I imagined a petrol generator with no spark plugs... and for some reason that made me laugh at the thought of some poor dude yanking away at the chord and being like 'DAFUQ'?

If everything is ok the system will halt when it fails to find memory. Depending on the motherboard and presuming other components are okay, you should get a beep code or LED code telling you that there is no memory.

You certainly should learn that the psu works. That the motherboard likely works. That the cpu is well mounted and properly cooled. Or not.

Of course then you will have to sit around waiting for the memory to arrive :) .

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
