Building Rendering and VFX Machine

Hey everybody. I have a love of absorbing software, and I want a machine that can run the programs that I want to use. I am not very familiar with hardware though. Can I get a little help on building a machine that can render quickly, run 3D and VFX programs? I go to a school in LA named OTIS and major in Digital Media, and I want a machine that can blow our standard machines out of the water. Ive got a budget of $1800. Can I get some recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I have no idea exacts what apps you are running but this is a good start

it is 1650 dollars so a little under budget so you can get a extra hdd or just save some money.

I put a quadro k2000 in the build but many pro don't need a quadro so you could get a geforce gtx 770.

Don't get amd gpu as they don't have cuda amd many pro apps need cuda in order to use the gpu

I also put in a intel 6 core the best bang for the buck for editing and vfx.
