Windows 7 USB Boot Installation

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

very weird situation you got here

are you able to see it complete the installation or it stay at that screen you mentioned?

may I ask how old is the SSD?

usually for fresh install

I will only have the SSD at first SATA port using AHCI

I will get the system to try to boot from the thumbdrive by hitting the F10 or any key depending on the mobo

do the normal installation

reboot

go to BIOS

set SSD as first boot device

disable fast boot

save and reboot

and it will boot to windows to complete the OS install

Yo guys,

I'm not new to this stuff, but I'm a little confused as it hasn't happened to me in the past after formatting numerous times.

Just to clarify, I do have a legitimate key for the OS it's just that my PC does not have an optical drive.

Basically, this is the order of operations I do when formatting a PC.

- Go into BIOS to set hard-drive boot order to the USB and then the SSD/HDD.

- I then restart the PC and let it run into the setup and install the OS.

- The installation automatically requires a restart, so when it restarts, I immediately go back into the BIOS and change the boot order back to SSD first priority (to prevent it starting the installation from again).

- It then goes back into the installation but here's the confusing part. Normally when I install windows this doesn't take as long but now, it is not frozen but it's stuck at the 'completing installation' part.

I'm using a USB 3 bootable USB and i'm installing it on an SSD - this should definitely not be taking this long. It is the third time now i've tried the installation, after swapping between HDD modes IDE and AHCI, unplugging all devices, etc... Nothing seems to work though after reading all this feedback from past threads. This is a downgrade going from Windows 8.1 to windows 7, does that have anything to do with the issue? I would expect it not to as I've completely formatted the drive during the installation phase in custom setup.

Would appreciate a solution.

Cheers.

are you able to see it complete the installation or it stay at that screen you mentioned? Nope it's staying at the screen, here's an image from google that's pretty much exactly the same http://keithelder.net/blog/images/keithelder_net/blog/WindowsLiveWriter/SetupWindows7QuickandEasywithVMWaresEasy_8545/image_20.png

may I ask how old is the SSD? I've had it for about a year now and it hasn't had any problems yet.

I will only have the SSD at first SATA port using AHCI Yeap, I also have three other HDD's but i took off the their power cables to to isolate the SSD for the installation phase.

Indeed it is a weird issue. Really unsure what to do :\

I need to go run a few errands i'll be back soon guys.

hi

I just found this silly solution to this problem

one you reboot your PC

remove all USB devices including mouse and thumbdrive

Thanks for the help mate. I did try the USB devices earlier but not actually taking the thumbdrive too, however I got it to work anyways. As I went off to run my errands, I left the installation to continue and when I came back it said, "installation will continue once system restarts". It wouldn't do it for me I had to force shut down and when I started it up again it took me to the part where you configure your system account settings (success).  :)
