will my win 8 key deactivate?

Go to solution Solved by DudeWazap,

No it shouldn't deactivate unless you switch out your motherboard in which case you just have to call the Microsoft activation number to get it reactivated its easy.

I believe your Windows licence is tied to your motherboard, so you shouldn't have a problem changing these parts.

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

Pretty sure you are right but I think there is also a maximum number of part changes you can make (I'm not sure on this)

There is a really weird point system behind this, but if the key doesn't activate anymore you are usually fine if you call them up and say that something died and you had to replace it. You can even get away with a mobo swap that way.

OEM is tricky but as long as you keep the mobo it should be fine.

okay i was just thinking that if i remove my hdd from the mobo when im changing the case it might deactivate so yeah.

I have a OEM Windows 7 and ive changed my MB like 3x now lol and installed my OS on multiple hard drives over time and used the same product key. and they were automatically activated after 3 days  etc. Never had a problem with my OEM or replacing parts.
