Can someone help me ? i have an acer aspire v3 772g with an i7 4702 and a gtx760m . I wanted to play watch dogs but it wont run at 1080p only at 15-19 fps and when i turn it down to 720p it is still just at 25 fps the problem is that i used to play it at medium 1080p no problem 30fps even after i installed the mod . The nvidia control panel says the 760 does kick in although it doesnt perform as if it did . Latest driver installed . Havent changed any settings it just decided to not run smooth . other games such as Saints row the third and bf4 crysis 3 - these are the most demanding i have do seem to suffer as well.

Lol this game is nowhere near optimized. Even if I put the settings all to minimum my GTX 780Ti won't spit out a steady framerate. Screw Ubi.

There are probably tricks to make it better, but seriously this game is gimped so hard don't expect much.

Git Gud.

What has changed between when you got 30 fps and when you're getting 15-19 fps now? Did you start encountering these problems after a driver update or a WD patch?

freshly after the patch it ran smoother as before and none of these things happend up until now ... i used to get a "steady" 30fps before but just today its unplayable doesnt matter what i do with the settings .. and as i said all my games are doing this now it seems like if my 760 doesnt run instead im playing on the integrated intel graphics ... according to afterburner im not even close to throttling neither on my cpu nor my gpu

just tried to play for a while to do a temp test ... my gpu is just at 55 degrees , it used to be at 80 after i played watch dogs but afterburner also says that im at 99% usage on my gpu and about 30-50 on my cpu wich is normal so i dont know where is the problem

Do you play on a bed or other surface where the laptop might not breath? Or perhaps the heatsink needs to be cleaned out like my Asus laptop did. Could play Crysis on high settings no problem but eventually couldn't do that. It got to a point where I couldn't play the likes of killing floor on the lowest settings. Cleaned out the heatsink and it was like I upgraded everything. Played killing floor max settings and other games were good again too.

It's the only thing I can think of that could be your problem.

It works better now. I can make it work with my 780 in 3D 1080p. Lags in cars but that's all. Make sure you have the latest drivers too.

It's about the same for me.  I have a HP ENVY 15 with similar specs (i7 4700MQ and GT740M) and it runs about the same as you.  I wouldn't worry about it as much since Watch Dogs in general is a poorly optimized game.  Even people with beefy desktops are having trouble with getting steady framerates.

There is one trick to reduce some stuttering issues.  Try out the MaLDo textures.  "The mod's texture patch comes courtesy of MaLDo, the wizard responsible for enhancing Crysis 2. It updates Watch Dogs' 'High' texture setting to use 'Ultra' textures without mipmaps, thereby reducing the stuttering effect that can happen on GPUs with 2GB of VRAM." - PCGamer

as for this you have a 740m i have a 760m wich is a lot more powerful (and yes i do have the mods installed just installed the newest version if it would help even more)  :) the thing is i started to worry if there is a major software issue that for whatever reason doesnt allow the descrete graphics to kick in as they should . just to clear things up i wasnt talking about dips to 15-19 fps ... it was stable at that performance even in cinebench i got 44fps with the bad driver now i get 80 ... i´m sorry again i wasnt very clear about my issues and sorry again for my stupidity could have checked if an older driver fixes stuff before posting and annoying people . thanks for everyone though :) much appreciated (and sorry for my english slovak is my first language)

i use my laptop as a desktop replacement so it is sitting on a cooler master notepal u3 all the time the temps that i wrote where before i purchased this cooler before that it was sitting on my table and i clean the laptop regularly every 2-3 weeks with a compressor this way there is less of a chance for a dust build up . Last week i cleaned 3 laptops from my family all of them hat a skin of dust on the heatsinks and the thermalpastes where bone dry they thought i replaced someting because they ran so much smoother

feel lucky. It will only run my 7950 at 40-50% If i kick up AA and such the usage will go up, but thats about it. I cant get the frames to go over 30-40 range

that is most likely due to a cpu bottleneck , your gpu should always be at 99-100 even if you are playing doom the only time your gpu runs at less than that is when is something is bottlenecking it at least from my experience , correct me please if i am wrong

I'll try some of that stuff. I find it odd that 3GB isn't enough though, even with low detail AA filters and AO.

Going to be busy with Strife beta for a while though, might not get to this for a few days.

your are correct, it should be running at 100% as long as V sync is off.

but see, the issue is I have a I5-3570K that hovers right around 40% usage during the game. soooooo. the frame rate is fine, until you get in the city driving fast then it drops to around 20

yea the MaLDo textures basically make the High textures = Ultra textures without mini maps or something like that.

i uderstood your point i know watch dogs is f-ed up and the framerate is where it wants to be ... i was just clarifiing that my average fps used to be around 30 then from day to day it dropped to 15-19 and it wasnt dipping there ... it was stable at that and i just freaked out what was going on . and i agree with sqwidee : screw ubi , even my AC gameplay got lost at around 50% when the save decided that it is going to be corrupted lol

wow that is wierd i havent seen that before ... well at least you have good temps i guess - have you tried different drivers ? both for  you gpu and cpu ? mabye a throughout virus scan could reveal something in the folder you dont talk about
